How to choose the right steel abrasive

Improper selection of steel shot will affect the normal operation of the shot blasting machine and may cause machine failure. Shot blasting machine commonly use steel wire cut shot, alloy shot, cast steel shot, iron shot, etc.

Customers use the shot blasting machine should find the right steel shot, choosing good quality steel shot can not only improve the service life of the shot blasting machine and its vulnerable parts but also improve the surface quality of the product, in general, the choice of type and size of the steel shot is mainly depends on the workpiece you want to clean:

Nonferrous metals generally use aluminum or stainless steel shots Ordinary steel and its welding parts, castings, steel and other steel use steel shot;

The larger the diameter of steel shot, the higher the surface roughness, but the higher the cleaning efficiency.

The cleaning efficiency of irregular shaped steel sand or steel cut wire shot is higher than that of spherical shot, but the surface roughness is also higher.

Abrasives with high cleaning efficiency wear equipment faster (relatively)

A), hardness is proportional to the cleaning speed, but inversely proportional to the life. Therefore, the hardness is high, the cleaning speed is fast, but the life is short and the consumption is large, so the hardness should be moderate (about HRC40-50 is appropriate). The use effect is the best.

B), moderate hardness, with excellent resilience, so that the steel shot can reach every place in the cleaning room, reduce the processing time.

C), internal defects of the projectile, such as porosity cracking and shrinkage cavity, can affect its life and increase consumption.

D), when the density is greater than 7.4g/cm, the internal defects tend to be the minimum.
